Overview
The DEWALT DCB609 is a genuine FlexVolt 9.0Ah battery — the pack that bridges DeWalt's 20V MAX and 60V MAX worlds. FlexVolt batteries automatically switch voltage: they run 20V MAX tools at 20V and 60V MAX tools at 60V, so one pack can genuinely serve both parts of a mixed DeWalt kit. At $152.49 it's a real premium over a standard 20V MAX pack, and that premium buys cross-platform flexibility plus high capacity for demanding tools.
We haven't bench-tested this battery. This is a compatibility and value breakdown, not a runtime claim.

Who it's for
This pack earns its price if you own or plan to own 60V MAX FlexVolt tools — table saws, chainsaws, string trimmers — where the auto-switching voltage matters. It also works fine as a high-capacity 20V MAX pack if you just want more runtime on standard tools, but for that use case alone, a DCB205 (5.0Ah) is far cheaper. The value case is strongest when you're actually using both voltage tiers.
Compatibility
FlexVolt batteries run 20V MAX tools at 20V and 60V MAX tools at 60V automatically, and two FlexVolt packs together can power 120V MAX tools. Standard 20V MAX batteries do not run 60V tools — that compatibility only goes one direction. FlexVolt does not cross to other tool brands.
Genuine vs. aftermarket FlexVolt packs
This is a genuine DEWALT FlexVolt pack under DEWALT's 3-year warranty. Aftermarket FlexVolt-compatible packs exist at lower prices, but a voltage-switching battery is a more complex piece of electronics than a fixed-voltage pack, which makes the case for genuine OEM chemistry and warranty coverage stronger here, not weaker.
Buying notes
At the dated $152.49 offer price, this is a premium battery in the reviewed DEWALT set. DEWALT documents an LED state-of-charge indicator; the previous no-gauge claim was incorrect. Its main evidence-backed distinction is operation across 20V MAX and 60V MAX FLEXVOLT systems.
My Verdict
The DCB609 is DEWALT's genuine high-capacity FlexVolt pack — built for the cross-platform 20V/60V lineup, at a real premium over standard 20V MAX batteries.
