If your tools are mostly light-duty and you want minimum weight, DeWalt's compact 2.0Ah DCB203 is cheaper and lighter; if you're running high-draw 60V-capable tools, you'd want a FlexVolt pack instead.

Compatibility

Every genuine DeWalt 20V MAX battery, including the DCB205, fits every 20V MAX tool. It will not power FlexVolt-exclusive 60V tools like larger table saws or 60V chainsaws — those need a FlexVolt pack, which also happens to step down and run 20V MAX tools. A DCA1820-style adapter exists for older legacy 18V tools, but that's a separate accessory, not something built into this battery.

Why genuine over aftermarket
